ANAHEIM, CA - Congresswoman Loretta Sanchez (ret.), a twenty-year representative of the City of Anaheim in the U.S. House of Representatives, today announced her support for and endorsement of longtime neighborhood activist and businessman Mitch Caldwell in the hotly contested race for the Anaheim City Council’s Council District 3.

In making the announcement, Congresswoman Sanchez said, “I was born and raised in Anaheim and represented our great City for 20 years in the U.S. Congress. I have worked with Mitch on many issues of vital importance to the working people of Anaheim. I know Mitch will fight for our City and always do what's best for our community and our people. Mitch is an experienced leader with the vision, passion and dedication to move our City forward. Please join me in voting for Mitch Caldwell for Anaheim City Council District 3 this November!"

Congresswoman Sanchez represented the City of Anaheim and the Central City neighborhoods of Council District 3 in the U.S. House of Representatives from her election in 1996 until 2016. Noting the similarities in their respective first races, Caldwell remarked, “When Congresswoman Sanchez was elected in 1996, she shattered ceilings and defied all expectations, winning an election few said she could. If anyone knows the work and grassroots effort it takes to beat an incumbent who does not represent a community’s best interests, she does. That’s why it means so much to me that she’s endorsed me. She has District 3 in her heart, and she knows what it takes to win. With her support, we’ll be victorious in November!”

Congresswoman Sanchez joins an outpouring of bipartisan support for Caldwell, including Anaheim City Council Members Kris Murray, Steve Faessel, and Lucille Kring, as well as Anaheim Elementary School District Trustee D.R. Heywood.
